Be seduced by the scent of orange blossom.
As one of Vega Baja del Segura’s citrus farming villages, with a population of over 3,500, Algorfa is situated within a fertile countryside. During late March and early April the hypnotic smell of the orange blossom permeates the air… and your nose. This aroma cannot be bottled so encouraging return visits to this appealing village are guaranteed.
Cultural heritage.
Just outside the town is an unusual neo-gothic church that was built at the beginning of the nineteenth century and is worth visiting.
Algorfa holds a market on Wednesdays which sells fresh fruit and vegetables, clothing, fancy goods etc. The market sellers are friendly and helpful with any questions eagerly answered and although mostly in Spanish you can get by with a few hand gesticulations and a nod or shake of the head!
Algorfa celebrates many fiestas throughout the year which are well patronised by all nationalities living in and around the surrounding areas. The villagers put a lot of time and effort to ensure a good and memorable time is had by all.
