The only way to get to the island of Formentera is by ferry from Ibiza as there isn’t an airport on the island. By contrast, Formentera del Segura (located on mainland Spain) can be reached easily by road via the AP-7 motorway and is approximately 35 minutes from Alicante-Elche Airport. The area is also well connected to nearby towns and coastal resorts in the Costa Blanca.

Do You Need a Car in Formentera?
On the whole, the island of Formentera is a very walkable island so you don’t necessarily need a car. Most towns, especially Sant Francesc and Es Pujols for example where the terrain is flat and there are many designated walking / biking trails, are perfect for walking.
